Kerry Tenbey

During this period of time, full of restrictions and limitations, I have been exploring working in different ways. Separated from the landscapes which inspire my work, I have been using documented images of material textures that I have either encountered in my everyday life, or textures of objects I have made, to create digital works. These collage works originally acted as blueprints for future physical works, but they have transformed into stand-alone artworks which float somewhere between fantasy and reality. These imaginary landscapes are inspired by research into Victorian traditions of sea-bathing and the gendered cultures of frequienting bathhouses and lidos. These gradually disappearing social material spaces have informed my work during this time, as I have been struggling with the separation from the coast where I grew up.
