Our Team
Short Supply is led by Mollie Balshaw and Rebekah “Bek” Balshaw, alongside Jake Liken.
Mollie and Bek are the co-founders of Short Supply, working together to build practical, paid pathways into creative careers outside London. With backgrounds as artists and organisers, they bring a mix of strategic thinking, delivery experience, and sector insight shaped by their own experiences navigating the creative industries from the North. Jake works across programme delivery and operations, supporting the day-to-day running of Short Supply’s activity and ensuring ideas translate into real, tangible outcomes for artists. Together, the team combines vision, structure, and care — focused on building work that is useful, sustainable, and grounded in lived experience.

We also work with a network of freelance creatives, producers, and specialists bringing in expertise as needed across programme delivery, communications, design, and facilitation. This flexible model allows us to scale our work responsibly while ensuring artists and collaborators are paid fairly for their time and labour.

Short Supply is further supported by an Advisory Board made up of professionals from across the arts, publishing, education, law, and the creative industries. The Advisory Board provides strategic guidance, critical challenge, and sector insight, helping us strengthen our governance, sustainability, and long-term vision.
